Gamers who love the action-racing shooter genre have their latest gift coming in the form of Twisted Metal with more firepower and rage than ever before. Sony Computer Entertainment launched its eighth installment of the longest-running PlayStation game series and gamers are already flocking to know more about the characters, the weapons and the gameplay.

Calypso’s vehicle-combat tournament continues in Twisted Metal where players compete to win the prize. The characters in the game include Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, the Preacher and Dollface. Calypso, the mystifying ringleader returns again, perching high on his penthouse office. He is back to host this ultimate match of destruction using your skills. If you win, you can win any prize that you desire. You will become a part of one of the four blocs and enter a highly destructible, high-octane world. Win the game and the evil Calypso is going to fulfill your wish. As a twisted disciple you are dismantling your enemies in your vehicles which are loaded with enough firepower to destroy a city.

This online multiplayer game allows as many as 16 players to enter the combat zone through the PS network and you can choose from any of your favorite or newly introduced game modes. You will find better graphics, sound effects and more weapons compared to the previous installment. In addition, Mr. Grimm and Sweet Tooth have made a comeback, which were not present in the previous version. One of the new modes in the game is the Nuke Mode, where you are playing for one of the factions (read more about this new mode in our next Twisted Metal review). Another game mode is Deathmatch, where you have to put everyone in the level to rest. In Team Deathmatch mode, you are on a mission to kill as many opponents as possible in a limited time-period. In the Race mode, you are aiming to reach the checkpoints with the fastest possible time, and in Endurance you find your enemies spawning again and again so as to kill you. In addition, there are other modes like Last Man Standing and Team Hunted.

All the factions are getting their own unique campaign modes. Twisted Metal is full of new firepower including Homing Missile, Power Missile, Stalker Missile, Napalm and much more. The developers have also added a custom paint shop so you can decide what your vehicle will look like – red hot rage or the symbol of death, black. Destroy eveything and get Twisted Metal now!

Description Rating (out of 10)
Graphics
Twisted Metal has been developed with 720p resolution, even though it supports an output of 1080p. The developers have done enough to give you an HDR experience with lots of textures, art content and shaders. Even with an existing high-quality graphics experience, there are still further efforts going on to improve the quality.
7.0
Sound
Twisted Metal is made to rock your PS3 through the roof. Where Eat Sleep Play has kept the graphics to an average level, it seems they have transferred all the fire into the sound department. The quality of sound is simply great. The roaring machine guns, the missiles cruising past you and the explosions will really put you in a battlefield and will make you jump out of your seat.
8.0
Gameplay
Twisted Metal is making a return to its gritty styled past bringing back the classic characters like Mr. Grimm and Sweet Tooth. Twisted Metal is all about control and firepower, and Sony has ensured that you are going to get the best in the business. Your arsenal has expanded further and you are going to be one super-power with a wide range of weapons, missiles and machine guns to choose from.
8.5
Lasting Appeal
When it comes to Twisted Metal, the longest running PlayStation series in the game world, gamers are always looking forward to the next installment. The rounds in the eighth installment keep you glued to the console.
7.5
Overall
The latest installment of Twisted Metal is a delight for you if you have played the previous versions. Even if you have not played the game earlier, this car combat game is going to make you wonder why you didn’t play it before. The graphics are gripping and are simply great for your PS3. Upgrading the difficulty level has helped Sony to further improve the fun-factor and thrill in this game. This game is a MUST buy. What are you waiting? Buy Twisted Metal now!
