Max Payne 3 Review
-
Max Payne has been through lots of pain in the last decade. And, the latest installment of the series finds him in the worst of situations. He has lost his family, has thrown away his career due to addiction and is fighting around with the mob. In Max Payne 3, you find your anti-hero with shaven head, and a bottle of jack and a pistol in his hands. You would find this to be an entirely new settings, but even with new looks it is still the third-person shooter having smoother movements and more surprisingly without any load time. In Max Payne 3, your favorite character seems to have gone down from the leather-jacket clad, vengeful detective from the New York streets turn into a shaven-headed and broken man seeking justice in Sao Paulo's streets. You could not expect more from our Max Payne 3 review.
The setting and the movements are fantastic, and the gameplay scenes are almost similar to the cut scenes. Max Payne 3 is no longer a single night story, but it stretches out to a 2-week timeframe and you have lots of action during both day and night. The characters move in a real-like manner and there is no slippage when you turn or stop. And, the classic James McCaffrey sound is not missing in Max’s voice.
The third installment in the Max Payne franchise is not the traditional kill-them-all game, but it takes you into a more realistic world. Like in real-world, you can carry only a single 2-handed weapon and two 1-handed weapons. And, unlike other games, you would be able to see the weapons on your body during both cut scenes and gameplay. You would be living in an environment that can be destroyed and thus seems more natural and real.
What makes the game more realistic is that changing a weapon or the angle will draw different reaction from the enemy when he gets hit. There is something even more dangerous here. If you are not sure whether the downed enemy is killed or not, put another bullet into him, else he can shoot back. Here, a dead enemy is the best enemy, so don’t leave them just wounded. Even though the bullet time takes some amount of reality from all shooter games, it is there in Max Payne 3 and seems fine. Dont wait any longer and get Max Payne 3 now!

| Graphics The fans have been thinking about the graphics improvement that the third installment in the franchise would have. But, eventually they are more than satisfied with the stunning graphics that is richer and much brighter. The improvement in visual and 3D quality was not this much profound as Rockstar has been able to bring out this time. Characters move with a natural and fascinatingly fluid movement. There is minimum amount of slippage when the characters are running pivots and stops. |

| Sound The visual feast precisely matches with the sound quality. James McCaffrey seems to have a long-time job as he is again there to give voice to Max. Since, Max is living in an entirely different environment from the bustling New York streets, a lot of changes have come into this new South American environment. |

| Gameplay Max Payne 3 features offer realistic animations where Rockstar has been able to take Max out of New York, but not New York out of him. Max’s perpetual pain is certainly the gamer’s gain. The game is going to feature a destructible environment where you can shatter the glasses and splinter the wood. One of the most unique features is different reactions that come from the enemy when you pull the trigger at different types of weapon. |
8.5 |
| Lasting Appeal Killing and weapons are what make this genre more appealing than anything else. And, a strong gameplay also has a role in it. Max Payne 3 has some mind blowing graphics and thrilling missions that will not allow you to leave your chair. You can play this third version in the successful series in both single and multi player modes. |
7.5 |
| Overall Overall, Max Payne 3 looks extraordinary, and you cannot distinguish the gameplay scenes from the cut scenes. Rockstar has been able to take the game beyond the traditional one-night scene to a longer 2-weeek timelines. This means that you can play a lot both during daytime and nighttime. The third installment has much more advanced features compared to the second version. This game is a MUST buy. What are you waiting? Buy Max Payne 3 now! |
